Boston, one of the great cities of the American North East. I had the privilege to complete a commission for The Newbury hotel, a re-imagination of the classic Ritz-Carlton. I spent a glorious week drawing the Boston Public Garden, Beacon Hill, and Newbury Street, and staying at a beautiful grand dame of a hotel. Sigh. Read more on my blog HERE.

New York's Central Park in the fall is perhaps one of the loveliest places on Earth. Several years ago I was awarded a commission by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel to create pen and ink drawings of this most famous landmark of the city.
As a native-born New Yorker, I never lose the enjoyment of spending time in this most elegant park.

In 2015 I had the opportunity to visit Cuba.
I spent time in Havana, a city of music and color and wonderful people, and in Viñales, the tobacco country.
I can’t wait to visit again.

The Lower East Side of Manhattan was a mecca for Italians and Eastern European immigrants coming to the US in the late 19th and early 20th century. Many of these newcomers to the city made a living selling food and goods from independent pushcarts. Essex Market was one of many open air pushcart markets in the city, until 1940, when then Mayor La Guardia created the indoor public market at the corner of Essex and Houston Street. As the years went on the countries of origin for the immigrants who made the Lower East Side their home changed, but the Essex Market remained a place to find the taste of home and gather as a community.
In 2019 the old market closed, and a brand new Essex Market opened up across the street. With more space, more vendors, and restaurants, the new market is better in many ways. But I’m glad I was able to document the crowded shelves and well-worn places of the old market a few months before it closed. It seemed to be the end of an era.
Bali is that most indescribable place. Lush rice fields, tropical jungle, beautiful beaches, amazing people. The word gratitude is welcome here.
We found the philosophy of gratitude everywhere we went: In the rice fields, in the Hindu temples, even at the beach. You can read the story on my blog HERE.
